The Van Cleef and Arpels brand started as a love story. In 1896, Estelle Arpels married Alfred Van Cleef. Alfred and his brother-in-law later started the Van Cleef and Arpels line. Ten years later, they moved into a prestigious boutique in Paris and the brand continues to develop to this day. In 1939, the first Van Cleef and Arpels store opened in New York, in the Rockefeller Center.
