Seiko Watches for a Lady

From LoveToKnow Watches

In 1881, Kintaro Hattori laid the groundwork for clock and watch making in all of Japan by opening his own shop named Seikosha. A little over a decade later, Hattori had amassed a small but effective workforce and together they began to expand his business. By 1913, after a steady, successful run of marketing all sorts of clocks, Hattori felt that it was time to focus on something new. Having mastering clock making, Seikosha began work on the first ever wristwatch to be produced in Japan, which they named "Laurel." The company continued to achieve tremendous success and moved onward and upward into the 20th century. In 1924, they changed their name from Seikosha to the simpler "Seiko." Today, Seiko continues to offer the world quality and integrity in watch making.

Seiko Watches For Women

Seiko offers five different lines of watches, with two of those lines geared specifically for women. In this article features the two women's lines as well as a summary of what else Seiko has to offer. For men's watches, check out Seiko Watches for Men.

A lot of Seiko's new watches utilize "kinetic" technology, meaning that the watch contains a tiny electric motor that is powered by the wearer's natural wrist movements. In turn, the motor powers the watch functions. This eliminates the need for any sort of conventional watch battery.

Vivace

The Vivace line offers watches for the woman who seeks a watch that offers quality along with style and grace. The SXGM40 and SXD682 are classic Vivace – small and elegantly crafted – with the SXGM40 offering a beautiful diamond case. The SNA899 "Alarm Chronograph" offers the same level of quality, with the added benefits of an alarm and chronograph capability, to ensure that you're never late and you're always in top-notch condition.

Rivoli

The Rivoli line is the result of a veteran watchmaker partnering up with a mad scientist. Since 1987, Rivoli has offered imaginative dress watches that make keeping time a fun experience. The Rivoli line expands on the popular wave motif, which leaves the numerals looking as if they were suspended in air. For the relaxed, carefree woman that requires a timepiece, look no further than Seiko's Rivoli line.

Other Seiko Lines

Seiko offers three more lines – Premier, Arctura, and Sportura – for both men and women.

Premier

The Premier line offers a modern take on classic style. The line offers five different watches, each with unique features that range from alarms to calendars to chronograph capabilities. The Kinetic Perpetual, the star of the Premier line-up, features the kinetic technology that I covered earlier in this article.

Arctura

Seiko's Arctura line is the hotspot for the company's new kinetic technology. With three distinct models, the Arctura line showcases what kinetic is really capable of. The Kinetic technology also features a "shut-down" feature. After 72 hours of non-use, the watch will shut itself down. Upon re-activation (putting it on your wrist), the watch will re-adjust to the correct time.

Sportura

The Sportura line offers quality time keeping for the person in the driver's seat. Made with durable steel plating, non-reflective glass, and easy-to-read dials, it's the safest, most efficient way to keep track of time when behind the driver's wheel.
