Gold Montblanc Watches

From LoveToKnow Watches

Gold Montblanc watches were born from a company that's been in existence for over 100 years. In the workshop of Montblanc, master watchmakers create Montblanc watches, working up to 300 hours on a single time piece. The watches are painstakingly assembled with tweezers and magnifying glasses -- are a true labor of love. The watches are made in the mountains of the Swiss Jura. Montblanc watches are created in a small villa that was built in 1906—the same year the company was originally founded. The finished piece is called a Meisterstuck—a Masterpiece.

History of Montblanc

In 1906, three men (Claus Johannes Voss, Alfred Nehemias, and August Eberstein) collaborated to form a fountain pen company. The men had an excellent background to begin making fountain pens. One was a stationer, another a banker, and the third an engineer. By teaming up, the men were able to put their own unique skills to good use. The "Simplo Filler Fountain Pen Company" produced gold fountain pens with a built-in ink well, which was a new invention at the time. A rounded point star became the Montblanc logo in 1913. In 1935, the company added leather goods to the products it produced. It wasn’t until recently, in 1996, that the company added jewelry to its lineup. The jewelry received rave reviews from fashion industry experts. Today, Mont Blanc jewelry is worn by celebrities such as Andie MacDowell, Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Lopez, Lucy Liu, Eva Green and Naomi Watts. The watch is now sold in over 70 countries around the world. The watches and other items are sold through authorized retailers and Mont Blanc boutiques.

Montblanc Supports the Arts

Because the company started with a writing instrument and continues to produce fountain pens today, they are supportive of literacy and other artistic efforts. Some of the projects they support include:

  • Philharmonia of the Nations
  • Young Artists World Patronage
  • Unicef Projects
  • Young Directors Project

Gold Montblanc Watches

Collections

Although the company offers a wide range of watches, some of their most popular models intertwine gold with the superior craftsmanship of a Mont Blanc watch. Collections include:

  • Collection Villeret 1858
  • Star Collection
  • Sport Collection

The Montblanc Collection Villeret represents a collaboration between Montblanc and Minerva. Minerva is a Swiss watch making company founded in 1858 and with a reputation for quality workmanship. The watches are exclusively handmade.

Probably the most elegant of the gold Mont Blanc Watches is the 18K gold Montblanc Watch which comes in rose or white gold and is called the Star Lady Automatic Moonphase. A white mother of pearl dial is set with diamonds. Light blue alligator strap sets off the piece.

Most popular is the rectangular Montblanc Profile Lady Gold. Comes with either snake skin strap or alligator strap in a variety of colors. Watch has gold casing and mother of pearl dial.

Additional Watches and More

In addition to the elegant gold Montblanc watches, the company offers travel clocks, sports time pieces, and a chronograph. Star Gold XXXL Chronograph GMT Automatic is an 18K gold red watch with sapphire crystal casing, black alligator strap, and date display. The watch also displays hour, minute, and second. At Red Fingerprint, an authorized online retailer, the watch was offered at around $8400.00. Features of this watch include:

  • Water resistant to 30 meters
  • Black alligator strap
  • Blue steel hands

Hi Dennis,

It is amazing how a little face lift such as a new watch band can get us excited about an old timepiece isn't it? Glad you like the changes!

After owning my Montblanc gold watch for 3 years I had them replace the leather band with a gold and stainless steel bracelet. WOW I have fallen in love with is all over again. Had it service and they polished and cleaned it. It is a 18k solid gold Star collection. What a beautiful time piece.
