From LoveToKnow Watches
Fashionable Fossil watches for men combine reliability with stylish designs. With literally hundreds of designs to choose from, there's a Fossil watch for everybody.
Fossil History
Fossil, Inc has been making watches ever since it was founded in 1984 by a pair of brothers, Tom and Kosta Kartsotis. Initially the company focused on bringing stylish, low cost watches with a fifties feel to the market, in an effort to draw customers looking for good value. Fossil's watches quickly became popular, and in 1993 the Kartsotis brothers took the company public.
From the beginning, the company looked for new avenues to grow their business. During the nineties, Fossil branched out into accessories, including sunglasses, purses, belts and other small leather items. In 1996 Fossil established a presence on the internet with their Fossil.com site, one of the first retailers to do so. That same year Fossil began opening outlet stores and accessory shops. In 2000 the company expanded still further when they introduced a line of clothing with everything from jeans to jackets. Fossil also produces Fossil and Emporio Armani jewelry.
In addition to its own line of watches, Fossil creates watches under license for famous companies like DKNY, Burberry, Marc Jacobs and Emporio Armani. In 2001 Fossil acquired Swiss watch brand Zodiac, giving the company a presence in Switzerland, and in 2004 bought Michele Watches, a high end brand. Fossil also offers a miniature PDA worn on the wrist, called Abacus Wrist PDA, the first company to do so. Most consider the 11-year limited warranty on Fossil watches, which covers the watch movement, hands and dial, a great bonus.
Bluetooth Fossil Watches for Men
The Bluetooth line of Fossil watches for men makes keeping track of phone calls and messages a cinch. The Bluetooth watch boasts classic styling and keeps time with analog hands, has a small digital screen readout of a caller's phone number. When used with a Bluetooth wireless technology enabled cell phone, this handsome watch vibrates to notify the wearer of a text message or incoming calls. The Bluetooth watch also has a caller id function. With just the push of a button, the owner can mute the cell phone's ringer or send calls into voicemail.
Designer Watches
Fossil teamed up with famous designers Frank Gehry and Philippe Starck to produce a chic line of designer Fossil watches for men. Gehry is an architect, famed for his postmodern, sculptural style, and his beautiful watches for Fossil reflect his background. French native, Philippe Starck has designed everything from home interiors to toothbrushes. Starck's streamlined, innovative designs for Fossil are sleek and stylish. The line features both analog and digital watches with unexpected details. For example, one digital watch is designed to look like an analog one, with numbers appearing in sequence around the watch to count off seconds instead of a moving second hand.
Fossil Metal and Strap Watches
The Fossil's Metal line is made up of watches with metal watchbands, while the Strap line includes a variety of attractive leather watchbands. Both lines carry a wide selection of Fossil watches for men, including:
- Casual and dress styles
- Motion dial
- Midsize
- Chronographs, which can measure smaller time periods
The Metal line also offers pocket watches and durable Titanium watches, while the Strap line includes digital watches.
Specialty Fossil Watches for Men
In addition to their standard fare, Fossil offers several specialty watches. Sports lovers will appreciate the NCAA collection, which proudly displays a school's logo on the face of a handsome watch. There are several different designs available for most schools, including watchfaces in the schools' colors. Likewise, an NFL watch shows the logo of the watch owner's favorite football team. The Collectibles line features timepieces adorned with images from blockbuster films, like Star Wars, as well as other well-known figures, like Elvis or Snoopy.
Conclusion
From the beginning Fossil has offered an inspiring line of watches, and now the variety available to men is greater than ever before.
