LP984N Digital Compass
According to Jared West, spokesperson for Famous Trails, there are advantages to the compass watch over a standard sports watch: "We've combined several necessary pieces of gear into one convenient package here. It's much harder to get lost in the deep woods when the user knows exactly what direction they're headed."
"Our customer base is the "everyman," West adds. "We've found this watch to be popular among urban wearers as well. True, the watch performs many functions that hikers, campers, hunters and other outdoorsmen would find useful, but its appearance is sleek and sexy, so everyone would consider wearing it."
Although the watch might be perfect for sportsmen, it is designed for anyone who loves a distinctive style and high quality craftsmanship at an affordable price.
Features include:
- Rubber strap
- High impact polymer materials
- Digital compass
- World clock
- Chronograph
- Alarm functions
- Day/Date
- 1 year warranty
- Retails for $89.99
According to West, the best place to purchase the watch right now is Big 5 Sporting Goods where it is selling quickly and with success. Click on their store locator to find a store near you. Be sure to contact the store before traveling a great distance to make sure the watch is available in your area. If it is not in stock, you may be able to special order the timepiece.
Authentic Famous Trails
The best way to tell if you have an authentic Famous Trails Digital Compass Watch as opposed to a knockoff is to purchase from a recommended retailer and to make sure the watch has Famous Trails markings on the face and comes in a Famous Trails upholstered box.
According to company spokesperson, what makes the Famous Trails Digital Compass Watch stand out above the competition is the sleek design, impeccable customer service, and bang-for-the-buck value.
"We've combined several necessary pieces of gear into one convenient package here. It's much harder to get lost in the deep woods when the user knows exactly what direction they're headed," says West.
Because their watch category is constantly growing, changing and evolving, West expects more watches to be released in the company's future. They release about two new watches every year so stay tuned for even more exciting timepieces from this company.

Hi Chris,
Sorry to hear you had trouble with them. I have found sometimes that the cheaper watches do last really well. It all boils down to what watch works for you and your lifestyle. Some people have been very pleased with this brand, but it sounds like you got a couple of duds, so I don't blame you for refusing to purchase it again. Do you remember which brand the watch was that lasted for eight years on one battery? That sounds like a great deal. I'm sure our readers would love to check it out.
-- Contributed by: LorisoardChris, this is one of the funniest customer reviews I've read! While I feel your frustration, I honestly laughed out loud. I checked out this website because Big 5 shows a FT digital compass watch on sale for $100 off. I don't buy junk just because it's cheap. I'll pass on this too-good-to-be-true deal. Thanks for the review!
-- Contributed by: TomGood lord, this watch was crap! The first one started spontaneously resetting to 12:00 Jan 1 about three months after I bought it. Unfortunately, I'm not in the habit of keeping my receipts that long, so Big 5 could only replace it with another FTDC Watch. This one lasted four months, then had a short of some kind and jammed. Bear in mind that I never used either under hiking conditions! If I'd depended on it in the great outdoors, the rangers would have found my corpse months later.
I went out and bought a "cheap" $30 watch like my previous one, which lasted me eight years on one battery. I will NEVER waste my money on Famous Trails again.
