Discount Watches
From LoveToKnow Watches
Watches can be expensive – no doubt about it. Truth be told, a lot of watches are out of a lot of peoples' price range. If your expenses don't allow the purchase of a fancy timepiece, how on Earth do you go about getting one? Purchasing a discount watch can satisfy that need, and if done wisely, will leave only a minor dent in your checking account. To make matters even better, the internet is a tremendous help when looking for the perfect quality-assured, affordable wristwatch.
Discount Watches
A discount watch is not a used watch, but a new watch being resold through a discount seller. The reason that discount watches are cheaper is because discount sellers buy the watches in bulk from the company and get reduced prices. Therefore, they can afford to sell the watches to consumers at a discounted price. Now, when buying something from a third party there is always a risk. What exactly should you look for in a discount watch?
Warranty
A legitimate warranty is key when buying a discount watch. The existence of a warranty on the watch you're purchasing takes priority over all other concerns. Simply because if you have a warranty, you have reassurance that you can get your watch repaired if anything happens to go wrong. Furthermore, if a retailer offers you a warranty, it's unlikely that they're selling you a faulty product. After all, why would someone knowingly sell you broken merchandise and give you the option of returning it at full price? Therefore, the simple offer of a warranty is cause to be optimistic about the watch – whether you actually purchase the warranty is up to you.
Discount sellers will usually offer you one of two types of warranties – a direct manufacturer warranty that they received with the watch, or a their own warranty. The warranty from the actual watch manufacturer would be ideal, but there are plenty of reputable discount sellers that honor their own warranties.
Exchange Policy
Does the discount watch site offer an exchange policy? If so, what are the specifications? It's always good to find out this information before making a purchase. A lot of sites will not offer full refunds, but instead exchange for another watch or store credit towards a different purchase.
If they do have an exchange policy, what voids it? Some policies state that the watch can only be returned in a specific condition, whether it be undamaged or completely unworn. In the latter case, be sure that you're satisfied with the watch before you try it on.
Lastly, how long is the exchange policy valid for? Many sites will give you up to 30 days to change your mind, which should be more than enough time for anybody.
Source
This information isn't always easy to track down, but where does the discount seller get their watches from? You want to make sure that the seller is actually purchasing the watch from the manufacturer and isn't selling a replica. While replicas can be reputable in their own right, you want to make sure that you are getting exactly what you pay for.
Be Internet Savvy
When shopping online, use common sense when choosing a seller. Are their prices too cheap, perhaps suspiciously cheap? Where did you hear about them? If you used a search engine, how high up on the results were they? If you're internet savvy at all, you might even be able to tell from the design of their website if they're legitimate. Typos, anyone?
