Citizen watches was founded in 1924 in Japan. The founding fathers wanted a name that would make their watch line “Close to the hearts of people everywhere”, so they adopted the name Citizen Watch Company. Since then, the Citizen Watch company has grown by leaps and bounds. Since 1986, the Citizen Watch company has held the title of the world’s largest watchmaker. Citizen has also been at the forefront of technilogical achievement in watches. Citizen is responsible for the world’s slimmest LCD watch, the world’s first voice recongnition watch, and the world’s first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor.
