The Citizen Watch Company is one of the world's largest manufacturers of watches. Citizen watches are worn by people all over the world and from all backgrounds.
The Citizen watch range is widely known for its marriage of high technology and styling. The watches incorporate many unique features that make them desirable as well as highly functional. Despite being at the forefront of time keeping technology, the Citizen brand has a long history.
The Citizen Watch Company History
The Citizen Watch Company started life in Japan, in 1918, as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. It was not until 1924 that the name Citizen was used. The Citizen Watch website reports that the founders of the company chose the name Citizen as the name as the watches would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere". Shortly after this the company formally took the name The Citizen Watch Company.
Citizen Watch 'Firsts'
The company prides itself on its position as a market leader and celebrates its achievements. The company developed the world's first ever voice recognition watch as well as the first ever professional divers watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the company to develop the slimmest LCD watch that managed to combine performance with a need to reduce the bulk of the watch, making it comfortable to wear. These 'firsts' have continued with the Eco-Drive range of watches.
Eco-Drive
The Eco-Drive range by Citizen is renowned the world over for its use of light powered technology. The Eco-Drive range of watches never require new batteries and are powered using light. This makes the watches very environmentally friendly and means that spent batteries do not need to be disposed of. Watches in the Eco-Watch range are powered using light powered Japanese quartz movement which ensures excellent time keeping functionality.
The Eco-Drive range features watches for men and women. The range extends from high fashion dress watches through to rugged sports watches. Some of the models in the range include:
- Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Canvas Strap Watch #BM8180-03E – this is a black faced watch that is perfect for every day wear. The watch features a canvas strap and is water resistant to 100 meters. This watch is water resistant to 200 meters.
- Citizen Women's Eco-Drive Silhouette Two-Tone Watch #EG2344-51A – this is a women's dress watch and combines quality styling with excellent functionality. Hi Jane,
You have a couple of options. One is to take your watch to an authorized Citizen watch dealer. They should be able to replace the battery for you. You can find a retailer near you by going to citizenwatch.com and clicking on "Retailer Locator".
If you cannot find one near you, or they do not service the watches, you may need to mail the watch in to Citizen for repair. You can find details on this page at the Citizen website.
